The most interesting is so far the Human translator app project of 2011 that I finalized into a nice iOS demo on a late iPod Touch, several translators contacted [they are so eager to establish themselves after school] and disappointing pitching to NDRC.ie dragons in August 2011 :( 5k euro grant&mentoring was rejected and when we with Stephanie went to see Mr Gary Leyden for a feedback, he told us: because it was not scalable ?! Lame. The same, almost identical, idea named Babelverse started to grow elsewhere at the same time (probably before mine since they went big at LeWeb11 -December 2011) and made it fairly global. Is it the proof of telepathy (I was thinking it through days and nights for 3 months in May-July) or the idea is not unique enough?
I think the idea is fairly risky, not because it is not scalable [it is scalable and good for a crazy angel investor], but it is a hell to manage/coordinate, to keep its global promise. And there is competition and translating machine's intelligence's PR growing that certainly will keep distorting the demand's focus on their goodwill- fame it needs. I wish the guys all the luck and if they make some profit the best KUDOS ever. Well it seems they pivoted and found their niche in remote conference interpreting. Yet also they still keep their global crowd of thousands of would-be interpreters on the edge of their seats with training and great job expectations. Briliantissimo.
